A Modal-Logic Based Graph Abstraction

چکیده
Infinite or very large state spaces often prohibit the successful verification of graph transformation systems. Abstract graph transformation is an approach that tackles this problem by abstracting graphs to abstract graphs of bounded size and by lifting application of productions to abstract graphs. In this work, we present a new framework of abstractions unifying and generalising existing takes on abstract graph transformation. The precision of the abstraction can be adjusted according to the properties to be verified facilitating abstraction refinement. We present a modal logic defined on graphs, which is preserved and reflected by our abstractions. Finally, we demonstrate the usability of the framework by verifying a graph transformation model of a firewall.

Coalescing: Syntactic Abstraction for Reasoning in First-Order Modal Logics
We present a syntactic abstraction method to reason about first-order modal logics by using theorem provers for standard first-order logic and for propositional modal logic.
متن کاملA Modal Logic for pi-Calculus and Model Checking Algorithm
The π-calculus is one of the most important mobile process calculi and has been well studied in the literatures. Temporal logic is thought as a good compromise between description convenience and abstraction and can support useful computational applications, such as model-checking. In this paper, we use symbolic transition graph inherited from π-calculus to model concurrent systems. A wide clas...
متن کاملSuhrawardi's Modal Syllogisms
Suhrawardi’s logic of the Hikmat al-Ishraq is basically modal. So to understand his modal logic one first has to know the non-modal part upon which his modal logic is built. In my previous paper ‘Suhrawardi on Syllogisms’(3) I discussed the former in detail. The present paper is an exposition of his treatment of modal syllogisms. On the basis of some reasonable existential presuppositi...
متن کاملSpeciication, Abstraction and Veriication in a Concurrent Object-oriented Language 1
We use Maude as our speciication language and the modal-calculus as our logic. We apply to speciications in Maude a framework of abstraction and veriication based on property-preserving mappings between transition systems. Firstly, we demonstrate how to employ abstraction in veriication of object-oriented speciications of distributed systems. Secondly, we use this framework to nd classes of pro...
متن کاملModal Stochastic Games
This paper presents an abstraction-refinement framework for Segala’s probabilistic automata (PA), a slight variant of Markov decision processes. We use Condon and Ladner’s two-player probabilistic game automata extended with possible and required transitions — as in Larsen and Thomsen’s modal transition systems — as abstract models. The key idea is to refine player-one and player-two states sep...
